works hard, year round, to bring designers, stylists, retailers, buyers, media and fashion enthusiasts together annually for a weekend of amazing fashion presentations, networking and social experiences, all while supporting a nonprofit organization. It takes a team of dedicated volunteers to help keep everything moving flawlessly!

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

GOAL:  Generate and Maintain a strong volunteer/internship program that connects qualified interested individuals while supporting the mission of the organization.

The duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:

    • Identify and vet volunteers to serve at MKEFW events, such as:
      • Ushers
      • Front of House Volunteers
      • Back of House Volunteers
      • Dressers
      • Swag Bag Fillers
      • Floaters/Runners, etc
    • Create and support a strong volunteer/internship program that connects qualified interested individuals while supporting the mission of the organization.
    • Develop a strong recognition program.
    • Implement the onboarding, orientation and training plan.
    • Work in conjunction with Director of Production to ensure a smooth flow of event.
    • Assists Front of House Manager with checking in Designers, Models, Artists, and Volunteers at event.
    • Continually look for ways to strengthen the volunteer base in the local community
    • Community outreach.
    • Conduct annual assessment of all members.
    • Ensure there are enough volunteers before, during, and after the show.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Key roles and responsibilities
    • Set the tone for the committee work.
    • Generate committee(s), committee lead(s) if applicable, and delegate work appropriately.
    • Ensure the committee members have the information to do their jobs.
    • Oversee the logistics of committee operations.
    • Report to the full Board regarding committee decisions and recommendations.
    • Assign work to the committee members, set the agenda, run regular meetings and distribute meeting minutes.

     

    Skills and abilities preferred to succeed as Volunteer Engagement Coordinator
    • Fulfill required time commitment.
    • Willing and able to act as an ambassador on MKEFW’s behalf.

    • Direct experience developing and implementing team strategies.
    • Demonstrated interest in the fashion and non-profit/social responsibility sectors.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Comfortable working in a fluid environment and taking initiative.
    • Entrepreneurial drive and desire to play an integral role in MKEFW’s growth strategy.
    • Demonstrated effectiveness in meetings and task forces; seen as a leader.
    • Leadership experience in another organization, especially non-profit organizations.
    • Have a network of community/business contacts and willingness to reach out as an ambassador of the MKEFW for awareness and fundraising.
    • Governance responsibilities.

    Estimated time commitment and meeting format
    • Attend a minimum of 10 Board meetings per year held in a Milwaukee area location.
    • Participation in all MKEFW events
    • Estimated time commitment: 10 – 20 hours/ month depending needs
    • Busiest time period: July – October.

LEGAL ADVISOR

GOAL:   Ensure organization operates within legal boundaries and laws.

The duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Provide oversight on any activities that advance the organizations effectiveness and sustainability.
  • Ensure that the organization obeys applicable laws and acts in accordance with ethical practices.
  • Ensure that the organization adheres to its stated corporate purposes, including its policies and procedures and bylaws, and that its activities advance its mission.
  • Assist with HR/Contract Fulfillment related inquiries/duties
  • Educate as needed, to ensure the Board understands business related legalities.
  • Ensure conflicts of interest are communicated and offer suggestions on how to handle.
  • Communicate with PR/Marketing, Directors, and Board Members to help support company’s mission.
  • Create/Maintain documents
  • Other duties as necessary or needed.

    • Have a network of community/business contacts and willingness to reach out as an ambassador of the MKEFW for awareness and fundraising.
    • Governance responsibilities.

    • Attend a minimum of 10 Board meetings per year held in a Milwaukee area location.

    • Estimated time commitment: 5-10 hours/ month depending needs
    • Busiest time period: July – October.
